Project Overview
The aim of our project is on designing, developing and employing a custom drone equipped with a high resolution camera designed for 3D mapping. Photogrammetry techniques can then be used to take the images from aerial surveys of Sevenoaks School and create a detailed 3D map. Our vision is to expand this technology to other organisations and schools. For example, in the future the drone could be used to assist in humanitarian aid. The 3D mapping capability could play a role in disaster response and management by providing real-time, high-resolution images and models of affected areas
Development Process
Major steps in creating the drone
Month 1
Fundraised $1,620 through:
-
Kickstarter(crowdfunding)
-
Own investment
Month 2 - 3
Buying equipment, designing the drone and building the drone.
Month 3
Testing and application:
Doing aerial survey of Sevenoaks School.
Month 4
Expanding to other schools and organisations.
Project outcomes
Having a drone which can create a 3D map using photogrammetry which can be used for virtual tours and as an educational tool. Enhanced understanding and application of principles in physics, engineering, mathematics, and computer science, alongside hands-on experience.
About us
Hello! We're Conrad and Khagan, students from Sevenoaks School with a shared passion for engineering. Our project is more than just a school assignment; Our passion for engineering isn't just a fleeting interest; it's a dream we've both harboured for years. We believe that true learning comes from hands-on experience, from diving deep into a project and grappling with its challenges firsthand.
